This movie was made by an international team of people from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Israel, Latvia, Estonia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Cuba, Mexico, Germany, Russia, Canada, Serbia, and Moldova without any external financing. This movie is our way to pay respect to the everyday heroism, sacrifice, and difficult labor without which there would be no VE Day.
We want to thank everyone who took part in the making of the film. One of the best things we can do to honour the veterans, our grandfathers and people who went through World War 2 is by remembering them, and a film is one way to solidify their actions and stories in history. We hope that we have made this film in the most respectful way to the best of our abilities and resources at hand.
In autumn of 1943, near Leningrad, a battered company of Red Army soldiers from the 191st Rifle Division attempts to avoid encirclement. Among them are many wounded, but everyone is determined to make it out as each of them have something to come back to at home.
